I am happy to learn that Dhaka University Alumni in the UK (DUAUK) is holding its first post-pandemic Biennial General Meeting since the Covid health crisis started in March 2020. I am extremely delighted that DUAUK is meeting at a time when we are not only celebrating the centenary year of the DU, but also the Birth Centenary of our Founding Father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the 50th Anniversary of Bangladesh’s independence and that of Bangladesh-UK diplomatic relations. I extend my heartiest felicitations to the alumni and best wishes for a successful Biennial General Meeting. I am happy to know that Dhaka University Alumni in the UK is going to hold its 2nd Biennial General Meeting (BGM). I appreciate the leadership of the organization for their efforts to publish a brochure. The United Kingdom has deep and special relations with our prolonged struggle for the right to self-determination that culminated in our glorious War of Liberation led by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahrnan. I gratefully recall UK’s political and advocacy suppo rt during our Liberation War as well as the historic meeting between Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the then British Prime Minister Sir Edward Heath at No 10 Downing Street on 08 January 1972.
